The guys over at Gousto have cooked up a fabulous concept.
Every week they come up with a different set of meals for you to choose from. They will then send you all the ingredients you need to cook your chosen meals as well as recipe cards with easy step by step instructions and pictures for you to follow. Simple but absolutely spot on.
I will also give them an A+ for their environmental foresight. The ingredients they use are local, organic and seasonal. Not only that but the food is sent out in biodegradable packaging with lots of paper bags and minimal (but reusable) plastic packs. And a plus for the OH are the ice packs used to keep some of the ingredients cool and everything fresh. He has stored them for future after they passed his rigorously quality tests.
Their menus cater to a whole range of tastes i.e. vegetarian, vegan, meat lovers and world cuisine. In fact, a few weeks ago I was chatting to one of my best friends about the menu selection available online at Gousto over the past few weeks and after salivating for rather a bit longer than we should have he summed it up rather aptly with a ‘it is like they feed you the world in your kitchen’.
Their boxes come in either couple sized or family size boxes and delivery is included in the price. Not only that but if you go away on holiday etc you can easily place your subscription on hold at no extra cost.
My Gousto review box came with 2 different meals, each enough for 2 people – a melon, mint and pancetta pasta salad which was my favourite and a Japanese udon hot and sour tofu soup which I will share with you later. Let me just say thought that they were easy, filling, delicious and in the right quantity to feed two. So no extra food waste issues.
I think they have done a good job. My friend, with whom I shared one of these meals, is (how do I put it?) hopeless when it comes to food. She likes the idea of healthy, home-cooked meals but either has no time, or finds a pizza easier. Anyway, this concept has inspired her. The cooking is easy, the food is good, and there is no going to supermarkets involved.
Well lucky for you Gousto have agreed to give away one reader a couples box which has 3 meals for 2 people. Imagine all the fun you will have choosing your meals and the get delivered a box of fresh and organic ingredients that you just need to throw together for a meal. Sounds fab right?
