My Dream Kitchen With Wren Kitchens

Wren Kitchen Review @ Recipes From A Pantry

So – what is my perfect kitchen?

I live in my kitchen. It is where I cook for my family, where the children play, where I do my food blogging and our general our hanging out spot. So I want it to be perfect. Somewhere where I can relax, where we can sit down as a family to eat together but also somewhere functional, which works well when we’re cooking. And I want it to look good too – I want to know that when people come for supper, they will like what they see.

So, if I was going to re design my kitchen to make it into the perfect kitchen where would I start? I want a kitchen that ticks all my boxes and also is not going to involve me having to drive for 20 miles to a vast warehouse to spend half a day agonising over which drawer handles to get.

Well I would definitely do it via Wren Kitchens.

Design service.
The first thing I would do is take them up on their free home measure and design service which makes life much easier. Especially useful for people like me who have a rather odd-shaped room and spend ages worrying over the ‘big decisions’.

The Kitchen Triangle.
Next I would focus on getting the perfect kitchen triangle. This means that the ergonomics of cooking are taken care of. So that the places or things I most use (generally the cooker, fridge and sink, plus e.g. storage) should all be laid out so that I don’t find myself walking miles every time I cook. The fact that my fridge is in a different room from the kitchen, and the pots and pans live under the stairs means that I am in for a serious trek every day.

Lightning.
Lighting would also be a key element now. One of the issues I have in my kitchen is that the natural place for the cooker is in the old chimney. This looks lovely but of course it is dark and I can’t see into the pots easily. Their LED lights seem perfect to solve this issue, as they are steam-proof, relatively easy to install.

Storage.
Storage is important. Getting it right so that things are accessible but also so that the cupboards and drawers fit everything in. This is a trade-off that I seem to have got wrong here (my rather tall OH insisted on the shelves at a height that is convenient for his 6’4″ person to see, but hopeless for my 5’8″. My 5’3″ sister can’t even reach the shelves). For my dream kitchen, I’d make sure that someone with experience could give advice on how to sort out the storage best – something Wren can do.

Elegance.
And there is the genuine look and feel of the thing. I have said that I want something functional but elegant, rather than brutal in its functionality. My kitchen should reflect who I am, so I want it to look right. Just looking at their stylish kitchens on their website made me think- this is me.

My food photography corner.
I would not be any good as a food blogger if I wasn’t thinking about a corner to take good food photographs. So what would I need? A nice coloured worktop that is easy to clean with lovely background wall near to a window. Not too much to ask then but with their worktop selection and kitchen design team experience, I would be sorted.

Quick service.
And finally, practicality. How long will the actual bit of installing take? They build all their kitchens to order, in the UK, so there is none of the missing screws issues you get with flat pack. And they’ll guide you through installation and they promise it takes about half the time it would if you had flat pack. And with up to 50% off, I think it is worth checking out Wren Kitchens, making a nice simple decision and get the kitchen you deserve. OH are you listening…….

  1. Lovely looking kitchens! Good to see that the ‘working triangle’ has been mentioned which seems to be left out quite alot in the initial design gathering process.

  2. Oh my gawd, a dream kitchen is also a big one for me too, Bintu. I don’t know if that is going to happen in this lifetime though. But, it’s lots of fun for me to look at those Wren pictures and dream! 🙂
