So What Is In Stone House Seasoning?

There are a three basic ingredients in Homemade Stone House Seasoning which include:

  • sea salt flakes – make sure you use flakes with the measurements givie here. You will need to adapt if you use other types of salt.
  • garlic powder – I prefer the texture of garlic powder so I used that, you can use garlic granules that are coarser but you would need to adapt the measurements again.
  • black pepper – feel free to use white pepper instead if you prefer. The fresher ground the pepper is, the better.

However, everyone has their own little variations. So for my version, I love adding smoked paprika . Use this as a base recipe, but feel free to adapt to your taste.

Recipe Tips

Here are a few tips to help you make the most of House Seasoning.

  • Mix up the salt. You can use pink Himalayan salt (I love this), Kosher salt, or even the regular table variety. BUT you would need to adjust the ratios of the ingredients you use.
  • Vary spices. Feel free to add a teaspoon more or less of the ingredients to your taste. Add-ons I have used include paprika, chili flakes, and oregano. Delish!
  • Awesome rub. This makes an awesome spice rub and works great on chicken, lamb and pork (for crackling- best flavor ever), which you can then cook up in a skillet, Instant Pot, Air Fryer or oven.
  • Make loads. Double or triple the recipe depending on how often you use this.
  • Make a paste. Sometimes it is easier to mix the house seasoning with some oil and make a paste before rubbing on meat, veggies, etc.
  • Suitable for various diets. This is suitable for vegan, gluten-free, paleo, low carb, Keto, and Whole30 diets.

How To Use House Seasoning

I use it to flavor anything and everything (okay, perhaps not smoothies or desserts, but you get the point). Feel free to use it to flavor items such as:

  • chicken breasts
  • soups
  • roasted vegetables
  • salads
  • steak
  • avocado toast
  • rice

How Much Seasoning To Use

Guys, you totally want to go easy on the seasoning, so start with less than you think you need and add more to taste. Start with a teaspoon of seasoning the first time and then adjust up or down to your taste.

Don’t have all the seasoning mix ingredients to hand? Worry not, I got your back.

First thing is to see which ingredients you have and simply use a mix of these to flavor your food. Alternatively, you can scan through your spice cupboard and see what other spices or herb blends you have (that you like) and use those.
