Instant Pot Pizza Crust Tips

Making Chili Herb Pizza Dough Tips

  • Stickier dough makes for a lighter fluffier pizza crust.
  • You can vary the herbs you add into the pizza dough. Oregano, thyme, parsley and basil all make great choices.
  • Ignore the chili if you are making this for the kiddoes.
  • I find that the pizza dough is ready at about 50 minutes, so you can check the dough at that time.
  • You can also use cornmeal or polenta to dust the Instant Pot pizza crust as you roll it out.

Cooking Instant Pot Pizza Tips

  • My failsafe method of avoiding a soggy pizza crust is to prick the dough with a fork and then bake it plain for 5 mins before adding any toppings (especially if you don’t have a pizza stone).
  • However, you can add your toppings directly to the rolled dough if you prefer, but may end up with a slightly soggier pizza crust.
  • Don’t over-top your pizza, and especially don’t over do it with the tomato sauce. Less is more when it comes to pizza toppings.
  • If using freshly torn herbs, it is best to add those after cooking for maximum flavor.

Storing The Pizza Dough

The dough will last in the fridge for 24 hrs. Wrap your individual portions in plastic cling film.

How To Freeze Pizza Dough

You can easily scale up the recipe and freeze till needed. Wrapped well, you can store the pizza dough in the freezer for up to 3 months. Here’s how to prepare it for freezing:

  • Split the pizza dough into the right size for cooking and shape into balls.
  • Place individual dough balls into separate freezer bags, remove all the air and seal tightly.
  • Label and freeze for up to 3 months.
  • To defrost, simply take out the dough and leave to defrost for a couple of hours.cooked pizza with olives, tomatoes and basil toppings

  1. This recipe sounds really good but I think that I would only use half of it for just my husband and myself. Could I freeze the other half for later or just cut the recipe in half? If I cut the recipe in half would the cook time still be 1hr in the instant pot?

  2. I have not checked in here for some time because I thought it was getting boring, but the last several posts are good quality so I guess I will add you back to my everyday bloglist. You deserve it my friend 🙂

  3. Hey, I really want to try this recipe, but I have an IP 8qt Lux and there is not a yogurt button. Do you have an alternative way to do this without that function?

I so enjoy your site and your recipes. Would you please consider adding a print option so we can enjoy your recipes a little more easily. Thank you.

  5. This looks fantastic! I’m a little puzzled by the amounts of the spicy miso paste though – since you only use half in this recipe, can’t one just make half in the 1st place? Is the benefit just having miso paste ready to go for the second round? Or some other secret?

This pizza dough recipe is by the far the best I have tried at home! I used whole-wheat flour instead of all purpose but it still came out great. The instant pot proofing of the dough really helped! Thank you.

  7. When my kids were little, my favorite things to cook/bake with them were cookies and pancakes! I think if the kids know they will like the end product, they will be more interested in the process. Of course, who doesn’t like cookies and pancakes?

  8. I love me some pizza, and having a tasty dough is even better. I’ve been making my homemade pizza for a long time, but never thought of adding chilli to it, duh??? I add chili to the pizza, why not to the dough itself.

    Great idea!!

I’m also fond of couscous, btw, noticed you are sharing a lot about that. 🙂
