No Bake Cashew Guava Cheesecake – Sierra Leone Flavours
It is about time I rock your world with my cashew guava cheesecake recipe. Or should I say cheesecake Sierra Leonean style? I am talking thick guava nectar, mixed in with some yoghurt and topped with a whole load of chopped roasted cashews.
Growing up in Sierra Leone, I spent ages thumbing through old American food magazines, drooling over pictures of gorgeous and creamy looking cheesecakes topped with glistening fruits that just cried out eat me. But no joy. No traditional cheesecake for me – not easy to get cream cheese in Sierra Leone.
To beat my craving I came up with I thought was the next best thing. Local and cheaper ingredients put together in an easier way. And this simple guava yoghurt cheesecake with roasted cashew nuts was born.
I made a such a big song and dance when I finished this. Everyone including my very busy gran had to stop what they were doing, come out to the veranda, sit down at the decorated table and have their very own first ever ‘cheesecake’. It really was an occasion.
And actually, when I had my first ‘real’ cheesecake in the UK, I was pleasantly surprised. Mine was pretty good.
Here is my no bake guava cashew cheesecake Sierra Leone style.

I have never had a ‘no bake’ cheesecake, but this sounds so good and it isn’t typical flavours I would go for
I would probably have to substitute the cashew nuts for broken up digestives as it is the base I crave when I want cheesecake
Digestives def work too Kaye.
This looks delicious but healthy as well. I think I’ll be making it this weekend – thanks for sharing x
My pleasure.
