Make These July 4th Cookies In The Oven

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F / 180 degrees C.
  • Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  • Make cookie dough as directed above and transfer the cut-out cookies onto the prepared baking sheet, making sure to leave space between them.
  • Bake for 9-10 minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and let cookies cool on the baking sheet, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • When cooled completely, frost the 4th of July cookies and add sprinkles!

Recipe Tips

  • If cookies lose their round shape during cutting, just carefully reform them.
  • You can cream using a handheld mixer or a stand mixer if you prefer.
  • You should also be able to make 4th of July cookies with cake mix, following the instructions on the box.
  • For the best results, air fry these in a single layer in the Air Fryer with space around them so the hot air can circulate. You’ll likely need to bake in several batches.
  • Remember that air fryer temperatures can vary depending on the make and model. I recommend starting with less cook time, checking food for doneness then adding more time as needed.

Delicious Variations

  • Vary the topping – feel free to use simple red white and blue sprinkles, star sprinkles, white chocolate chips, regular chocolate chips, M&M candies, etc.
  • Change the color – use colors other than red white and blue for various festive holidays, like red and green for Christmas, orange and black for Halloween, etc.

Prep and Storage

  • Prep Ahead – You can make the dough and refrigerate it for up to 24 hours before baking in the air fryer.
  • Store – Once they cool completely, 4th of July cookies can be stored in an airtight container on the counter for up to a week.
  • Freeze – Wrap cookies in plastic wrap and seal in a freezer bag for up to 3 months. You can also freeze the unbaked cookies for up to 3 months. To do this,
    • Scoop the dough onto a baking sheet and place it in the freezer until hard.
    • Place the frozen dough balls into a freezer bag.
    • Take out what you need and bake as directed. You may need to add a minute or two to the cooking time.
