Expert Tips

  • Lightly brush with olive oil or spritz with nonstick cooking spray to prevent the mummy hot dogs from sticking. You can also use parchment paper.
  • Use a pizza cutter to slice the puff pastry into strips.
  • Cut the puff pastry into 1-inch wide strips.
  • Wrap the hot dog in a crisscross pattern.
  • Avoid overlapping the puff pastry or crescent roll dough too much as this can prevent it from cooking well.
  • Prep these up to 3 days in advance. Wrap with plastic wrap and cook in the air fryer when ready.
  • Slice the hot dog in half or use little sausages for mini Halloween dogs.
  • When cooking in the air fryer, Preheat your air fryer for the best results.
  • Air fryer temperatures can vary depending on the make and model, so it is important to always check your food for doneness and adjust the air frying time as needed.

Delicious Variations

  • Use Mini Sausages – Swap out the hot dogs for mini sausages to make the cutest mini mummies.
  • Use Crescent Rolls – Regular crescent dough can be used instead of puff pastry. Simply cut the crescent sheets into strips, wrapping them around the hot dogs in the same manner.
  • Add Cheese – Use cheese hot dogs or layer cheese underneath the puff pastry wrapping.
