Hey guys. Today is all about lazy easy cooking that is not quite cooking. Yeap it really does not get easier or more delicious than Garlic Air Fryer Mushrooms Steaks. They are quick, delicious and packed full of simple flavor. These are the perfect dinner to serve on meatless Mondays, or any night of the week.

If you have time, I highly recommend letting the mushrooms marinate for about 30 minutes so they take in a bit more flavor. However, you can also quickly whip this up and grill the portobello mushroom steaks straightway and they still taste really, really good.

Whilst these grilled mushroom steaks are made in the Air Fryer, they are equally great on the grill, barbeque, campfire or stovetop. Plus you can serve them as a steak or stuff them in a burger with aaaaaaaaaall the trimmings to make a seriously juicy veggie burger.

You might wonder how you get a hardcore carnivore (like my OH) to consider eating a few more veggie only meals? Well, you have a conversation that ends with the word steaks. With your fingers crossed behind your back, of course. It totally works.

Air Fryer Mushroom Steaks Ingredients:

  • mushroom steaks
  • olive oil
  • garlic purée
  • tamari soy sauce (or regular soy sauce if not glutenfree)
  • salt

How To Make Air Fryer Mushrooms Steaks

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer to 350F / 180C.
  2. Clean the mushrooms with a damp cloth or brush and remove their stems.
  3. Mix together the olive oil, tamari soy sauce, garlic purée and salt in a bowl.
  4. Add in the mushrooms and then mix till coated. You can also use a brush to coat the mushroom in the mixture.
  5. You can cook straight away, or let the mushrooms rest for 10 minutes before cooking.
  6. Next, add the mushrooms to the air fryer basket and then cook for 8-10 minutes.

How To Make Portobello Mushroom Steaks On The Grill / Barbecue / Campfire

  1. Clean the mushrooms with a damp cloth or brush and remove their stems.
  2. Next mix together the olive oil, tamari soy sauce, garlic purée and salt in a bowl.
  3. Add in the mushrooms and gently mix till coated. You can use a brush to coat the mushroom in the mixture.
  4. Preheat the grill/barbecue/campfire to medium and then cook the mushrooms for about 4-5 minutes on each side till tender.
  5. Serve the grilled Portobello Mushrooms Steaks with some salad greens.

Air Fried Mushrooms Tips

Here are a few to make cooking your mushroom in air fryer super easy and super fun;

  • If you have time let the mushrooms marinate for about 30 minutes.
  • You can vary the spices and add in smoked paprika, Italian seasoning, Cajun seasoning, chili.
  • Use some tongs to carefully remove the air fried mushrooms from the air fryer basket so that they do not break.
  • If you are not vegan you can add a tablespoon of melted butter into the mushroom marinade.

How Long to Cook Mushrooms In Air Fryer

Because the temperature of air fryers can vary depending on the make and model, this recipe includes a range of cook times. It is important to keep in mind that the bigger and thicker your mushrooms are, the more cook time will be needed.

Which Are The Best Mushrooms For Making Fried Mushrooms In Air Fryer?
