How To Make Turkey Burgers in Air Fryer
Get the complete ingredients list and instructions from the recipe card below.
- Combine the meat, egg, breadcrumbs, and seasonings in a bowl.
- Lightly mix to combine ingredients and shape into 6 patties. Place in the air fryer basket, making sure they do not touch (in my case, I cooked them one at a time).
- Spray each patty lightly with oil and air fry for 5 minutes on each side at 350F / 176C.
- If desired, add a slice of cheese to the top of each burger and air fry for 20 seconds more.
- Serve on buns with your favorite toppings and condiments.
How To Make an Air Fryer Frozen Turkey Burger

- Place fresh made, store bought or frozen (following the make ahead instructions below) turkey burgers in the air fryer basket, making sure to leave space around them.

- If desired, add a slice of cheese to the top of each burger and air fry for 20 seconds more.
- Serve on buns with your favorite toppings and condiments.

Expert Tips
- Just lightly mix all the ingredients. Over-mixing can cause dry, tough burgers.
- If the meat mixture is sticky, wet your hands before forming the patties.
- Toss hamburger buns into the air fryer for 40 seconds to make them warm and toasty.
- Air fryer temperatures can vary depending on the make and model, so it is important to always check your food for doneness.
Flavorful Variations
- Season it – Swap out the seasonings for your favorite blend. I recommend trying Greek Seasoning or Italian seasoning.
- Make it spicy – Add diced onion, diced jalapeno, a pinch of cayenne, red pepper flakes, or a few dashes of your favorite hot sauce.
- Top is off – The sky’s the limit when it comes to topping a turkey burger. Go traditional with lettuce, tomato and onion or try something out of the ordinary like slices of bacon (or turkey bacon), a fried egg or sliced avocado.
- Make it cheesy – I love a burger with cheese! Top these burgers with a slice of cheddar or swiss.
Pro Tip: when cooking meat, always check the internal temperature using a meat thermometer. Ground turkey is considered done and safe to eat when it has reached an internal temperature of 165F / 74C.
Make Ahead and Storage
This southwestern Turkey Burger recipe is perfect for prepping ahead.
- Make Ahead – Prepare the burger mix and shape into patties. Wrap each patty in plastic wrap or layer between parchment and store in the fridge for 3 days or freezer for 3 months.
- Store – Leftovers can be stored for up to 3 days in an airtight container.
- Freeze – Place tightly wrapped burgers into a freezer bag and freeze up to 3 months. Cook from frozen following our instructions above.
