Apple Cinnamon Granola Tips

  • You need old fashioned rolled oats (not the quick cook variety) for this recipe.
  • Make sure to cut the apples a little smaller than 1 cm cubes otherwise they won’t dry out properly.
  • Use sweeter apples for a sweeter tasting apple granola.
  • This is not too sweet – I like my granola that way. But you can double the syrup mixture if you prefer.
  • Do make sure to cook the granola at the temperature the recipe calls for. If you cook it at a high temperature you risk the granola not drying out but actually burning.a tray of breakfast granola on a table

Apple Granola Variations

  • Vary the nuts you add in. Cashews, walnuts, pecans and hazelnuts are all great choices.
  • Try different spices – cardamom and ginger work too.
  • Vary the grains. You can add grains like quinoa into this granola.

One of the best granolas is the one that has apple flavor! 🙂 Oh, and cinnamon, too! Really keen to start a new day with this delicious granola!

Yum! I can almost smell the aroma of apple through my screen! My oven is broken so I can’t really do anything at the mo 🙁

  4. I love when the fall and winter comes. It means more oatmeal types of dishes. This would definitely fall right into the season. Wish I was around lots of apple trees…

  5. I love any kind of homemade granola, but this really appeals to me. I love the idea of the little squares of dried apple … especially with the maple syrup. Mmm … I’ve just had dinner but now you’ve got me thinking about tomorrow’s breakfast and wishing I had some of this!

  6. I have to be honest, I’m not the biggest fan of granola, I’ve always found it so dry but this sounds like it would be nice x

  7. I’m going to send this recipe to Jonny & see if he wants to give it a go. I’m sure it works out far cheaper than buying granola and you know exactly what’s going in it too!

  8. that sounds delicious, and a nice change from the (uncooked) oats, yoghurt and fruit I have for breakfast at the moment. At what stage do you add the apple, and do you need to do anything to dry it out?

  9. This sounds really good. It’s a pity the recipe only uses one apple though. You’d have to eat some every day for a year to use up 365! Hehe. Wish I had spare apples.
