Expert Recipe Tips

  • This is a basic sauce, feel free to adjust ingredients as necessary.
  • I prefer it slightly tangier so I double up the lemon juice.
  • A pinch of lemon zest works wonders too. You can also add some vinegar for a slightly different flavor profile.

Delicious Ways To Change It Up

Here are some delicious ways to change up this easy sauce:

  • Swap the heat – Use franks hot sauce or other chili sauces to your preference. Adding red pepper flakes and cayenne pepper works too.
  • Reduce the heat – reduce the amount of sriracha or skip it altogether and replace it with extra mild sweet chili sauce.
  • Add smoky flavor – add in some smoked paprika for extra flavor.
  • Add other flavors – garlic powder, onion powder, garlic chili sauce to taste make great additions.

Storage

This sauce is very versatile, easily adaptable, and can be used with any meal, any time of the day, all year long. It is super easy to make as and when you need it but can be made ahead too.

  •  Store – Make ahead and store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 7 days. Due to it being mayo-based, do not let it sit out at room temperature for too long.

FAQs

Make A Healthier Version

If you prefer a healthier version of this then you can make it in one of two ways. First, you can use a lighter low fat mayo. Alternatively, you can substitute the mayonnaise for Greek yogurt. To make it keto, use a keto friendly mayo.

Make It Vegan

Yes – swap the regular mayonnaise for vegan mayonnaise and use maple syrup instead of honey.

Can You Freeze It?

No, because the sauce has mayonnaise, I would not suggest freezing it.

Made my own chili sauce using heinz ketchup and chili powder and upped the honey to 2tbs and lemon juice to 3tbs. This is much better than any yum yum sauce or dipping sauce that I ever had! Thanks for the heads up!
