This cold brew coffee and berry blast is the perfect pick me up iced coffee recipe (partnered post).
Have I told you how much of a planner I am?
Let me give you a bit of an example of what I mean. We are hosting a get together of Freddy’s university gang this summer. These guys will be coming from all over England, Ireland and as far as Norway for a catch up, bonfires, barbeques, good food, long walks along the Suffolk Coast, cocktails, home brew, late late nights. And of course coffee so that we can wake up the next morning and do it all again.
The thing is thought, the reunion is not until August. August bank holiday to be more precise. So I am a looooooong way ahead of myself. But that is me. I plan, perfect and then plan some more. I have learnt not to fight it, but rather succumb to and enjoy the process.
My first step has been to work out some drinks recipes. So was rather serendipitous that I got the chance to try out this cold brew coffee and berry blast from Brita. The sort of iced coffee recipe that you need as a pick me up half way through the day (after an evening of reunion drinks).
What is this cold brew coffee drink? Well it is just that. You make some cold brewed coffee (which is a lot less acidic than traditional hot brewed coffee, so much smoother). Add some orange and berry juice and a little sugar, pour over ice, garnish with some berries and serve. Sounds lovely, doesn’t it?
And the main ingredients…Now, there is coffee and there is great coffee. In my opinion truly great coffee requires 2 things. First off you need good coffee and you can pop over to the Gentlemen’s Baristas to choose coffee to your taste.
Next come the pure water – the water than is free from all the unwanted ‘extras’ in your water ie lime scale, chlorine and domestic plumbing leftovers such as lead or copper. So you get cleaner water that allows the taste of the coffee to take centre place. And that is where the Brita and their range of water filters come in – i.e. they help people make better tasting food and drink, using filtered water.
Yeap, this cold brew coffee and berry drink is going to be making its appearance over that rather distant university reunion.
