How To Make Deviled Strawberries

Get the complete ingredients list and instructions from the recipe card below.

  1. Beat together softened cream cheese, sugar, lemon juice and vanilla in a medium sized mixing bowl using an electric mixer, until combined and smooth. You can also do this in a stand mixer.
  2. In a separate bowl, beat the cream until it forms stiff peaks.
  3. Fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture until fully combined, then add into a piping bag with your preferred nozzle. My kids prefer the star tip.
  4. Slice strawberries in half and place on a plate. If strawberries don’t sit straight, you can slice a little bit of the back to position them.
  5. Pipe the cream cheese mixture onto the sliced strawberry halves.
  6. Sprinkle on some shortbread crumbs or graham cracker crumbs, then serve the filled strawberries immediately.

Make This Even Easier

You can start with affordable store-bought ingredients instead of making the filling from scratch.

Just use any delicious cream cheese filling or any filling you like. Also, you can get ready-made whipped cream and just use that instead.

Alternatively, you can spoon some Nutella over these instead. Yeap, the best idea ever.

Recipe Tips

  • Only use the best strawberries for this – and frozen strawberries will not work for this deviled strawberries recipe.
  • If you prefer, you can carefully hollow out the strawberries and make a little hole for the filling to sit in. Use a small melon baller or knife.
  • Use large strawberries if you can, as each strawberry half is easier to handle if bigger.
  • To stop berries rolling around, you can slice the back of the strawberries so they sit flat on the plate.

Delicious Variations

The beauty of this is that it is one of those great appetizers that is made from simple ingredients that you already own or can easily get from a grocery store.

  • Add nuts – you can top this with chopped nuts. Almonds, pecans, walnuts etc.
  • Add chocolate – you can add some Nutella to the cheesecake filling or just top with grated chocolate.
  • Change the filling – use mascarpone filling, Nutella filling (the kids love Nutella deviled strawberries), or use peanut butter or other nut butter. You can even add in some sour cream if you like.

Storage

These can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. However, they are best served fresh so make just before serving them.

I am going to make these using splenda as well as low fat cream cheese and low fat cool whip just to keep the points down a bit. I have made these before with my twin grandkids. We had a ball and enjoyed them very much. Big hit with the whole family.
