Expert Tips

  • Overfilling your air fryer basket will prevent the edges of the Brussel sprouts from crisping. Cook in batches if you prefer crispier edges.
  • Layer the brussel sprouts in the air fryer in a single layer, so they evenly cook.
  • Turn the Brussels sprouts or give the air fryer basket a good shake halfway through cooking. Make sure the sprouts remain in an even layer while they air fry.
  • If the sprouts are not as tender as you would like, continue cooking until they are done to your preference.
  • Spritz with a little more olive oil if they get too crispy.
  • Cooking time in this recipe is a guide. Check for doneness and adjust the air fry cooking time as needed

Delicious Variations

  • Vary The Seasoning – You can season these frozen Brussel sprouts with your favorite seasoning blend so they can easily pair with any meal. Our favorites include onion powder,  garlic salt, lemon pepper, everything bagel seasoning and Italian seasoning. Try parmesan cheese, simple salt and black pepper, or melted butter.
  • Use a Sauce – Drizzle the finished Brussel sprouts with balsamic vinegar glaze, ranch dressing, buffalo sauce, or your favorite dressing. The sky is the limit.
  • Add Bacon – Chopped bacon adds incredible, and you can cook it right along with the brussel sprouts in the air fryer basket.

Prep And Storage

  • Prep Ahead – Cook Brussels sprouts directly from frozen. No need to defrost before adding to the air fryer.
  • Store – Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days.
  • Freeze – I don’t recommend refreezing the air fryer brussel sprouts as they may become overly mushy.
  • Reheat – Reheat in a 375 degrees F / 190 degrees C air fryer until they are warmed through.

FAQs

Do I Need To Thaw Frozen Brussel Sprouts?

You can cook frozen brussels sprouts in air fryer without defrosting them. If there is a thick layer of ice crystals, you can run them under cool water to remove the excess ice. Dry with paper towels before adding oil and seasonings.

Do I Need To Spray The Air Fryer With Oil?

No. The frozen brussel sprouts are coated in a small amount of oil which helps them to crisp up. No additional oil is needed.

Are Frozen Vegetables Healthy?

Frozen vegetables still contain most of the nutrients found in fresh vegetables. The trick is to air fry or roast frozen brussel sprouts just enough to be tender. Overcooking sprouts in the air fryer can deplete the nutrients.
