Ingredient Notes
- Grilled chicken — Tender grilled chicken breast is a versatile protein that can be seasoned any way you like it. If preferred, use chicken thighs or your favorite protein as a substitute.
- Red onion — Fragrant and spicy, red onion gives a little kick. Use sweet or yellow for a milder flavor.
- Avocado — Creamy, nutrient rich avocado really shines in this wrap. Don’t skimp here!
- Tortillas — Use your favorite type of tortilla here — white, whole wheat, spinach wrap.
- Black olives — The earthy taste of olives is a nice contrast to the tang of feta and the bite of red onion. Leave it out or change the type of olive, if you like.
- Feta cheese — This creamy, tangy cheese adds a salty note to the mixture. You can swap in goat cheese, ricotta or shredded cheddar cheese if you like, or leave cheese out altogether.
- Garlic — Minced garlic adds a spicy, deep flavor to the spread. Sub with dried minced garlic or garlic powder if desired.
- Mayonnaise — This helps the avocado get creamy enough to spread. You can also use plain Greek yogurt as a healthier option than mayo, or bump up the flavor with Ranch dressing.
- Lime juice — The avocado spread needs the acid of lime juice to balance the richness of the avocado. It serves the dual purpose of keeping the spread fresh.
- Black pepper — Enhancing all the flavors, black pepper ties it all together with a little spice.

How To Make Grilled Chicken Wrap
Get complete ingredients list and instructions from the recipe card further below.

Step 1. Mash the avocado with a fork in a small bowl. Add the garlic, mayonnaise, lime juice, and black pepper and stir to combine.

Step 2. Heat the tortillas in a skillet or microwave. Spread avocado in the middle of each tortilla and top with chicken, onion, olives, and feta cheese.

Step 3. Assemble by folding the bottom up onto the filling and then folding over each of the sides.

Step 4. Press the sides together as you roll the wrap closed. Repeat the process using the rest of the tortillas.
Expert Tips
- This recipe is perfect for using leftover grilled chicken breasts, but you can also use leftover cooked rotisserie chicken, canned chicken, or feel free to cook chicken specifically for this recipe.
- To make the wrap easier to eat, slice the grilled chicken breast into thin strips before assembling the wrap.
- Choose a ripe avocado for the spread. It should be slightly soft to the touch but not mushy.
- Enhance the flavor and texture of your wrap by adding fresh ingredients like lettuce, tomatoes, and onions.
- Warming the tortilla in a skillet or microwave for a few seconds will make it more pliable and easier to wrap.
- To prevent fillings from falling out of these grilled chicken wraps, fold in the sides of the tortilla before rolling it up tightly. Wrapping the filled tortilla in parchment or foil can also help hold everything together, especially if you’re making them ahead of time or taking them on the go.

Delicious Variations
- Mediterranean – Add sliced Kalamata olives, roasted red peppers, and crumbled feta cheese to your grilled chicken wrap. Drizzle with a lemon-herb vinaigrette for a burst of Mediterranean flavors.
- Southwestern – Spice things up by marinating the chicken in chipotle peppers in adobo sauce before grilling. For a fiery kick, top with corn salsa, diced jalapeños, and a creamy chipotle mayo.
- Pineapple Teriyaki – Marinate the chicken in a pineapple teriyaki sauce before grilling and fill the wrap with grilled pineapple slices, crispy bacon, lettuce, and red onion. Finish with a drizzle of teriyaki sauce for a taste of the tropics.

Prep And Storage
- Prep Ahead – Dice veggies, cook chicken, and/or make sauce ahead of time to be assembled later.
- Store—You can store these wraps in the refrigerator in an airtight container for up to 3 days. However, the tortilla can become soggy, so I prefer to store the leftover ingredients and assemble a fresh wrap.
- Freeze – While you can freeze cooked chicken, it’s not advisable to freeze the assembled wrap.

FAQs
The beauty of this recipe is that it is perfect for using up leftover chicken. Grilled chicken breast or thighs are juicy and flavorful. Leftover rotisserie chicken is also another popular choice.
To prevent your wraps from falling apart, make sure to evenly distribute the ingredients and avoid overfilling them. Additionally, you can warm the tortillas slightly before assembling to make them more pliable and use a toothpick or wrap them tightly in parchment paper to hold them together.
Absolutely! Feel free to get creative and customize your chicken wraps with your favorite ingredients. You can mix and match veggies, cheeses, and sauces, and even add extras like avocado, bacon, or pickles to suit your taste preferences.
There are various types of wraps available, including flour tortillas, whole wheat tortillas, spinach wraps, and even gluten-free options. Choose the type of wrap that best suits your taste preferences and dietary needs.
