  • Donuts – Use plain, undecorated, and unglazed donuts. 
  • Sprinkles – Use any color or use a Halloween mix with orange, purple and green. 
  • Edible Gel – Available in the cake decorating section of your store. You can also use candy melts or melted chocolate chips.
  • Edible eyes – Available in the Halloween candy aisle or the cake decoration section of your store.

How To Make Halloween Donuts

  1. Pour various colored sprinkles into different bowls and set them aside. 
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine powdered sugar with the water or milk and vanilla, stirring until smooth.
  3. Dip plain donuts into the frosting glaze, allowing the excess to drip off.
  4. Dip the glazed side of the donut into sprinkles and set it down on parchment paper or a cooling rack sprinkles side up.
  5. Repeat the process with all of the donuts. 
  6. Attached edible eyes using edible gel, and let donuts sit for about 30 minutes for the glaze to set and dry.

Pro Tips 

  • Prep all of your decorations and candy before you start decorating. 
  • Make the glaze last because it will thicken.
  • Work quickly once you get the glaze made. 
  • Mix and match sprinkle colors.
  • Make sure excess glaze drips off otherwise, it gets messy and drips down the side of the donuts taking the sprinkles with it.
  • Fill a piping bag with frosting or melted chocolate chips and attach a thin round tip to the piping bag. Squeeze frosting through the piping bag onto the back of the edible eye candies to stick to the Halloween donuts. 
  • Let your kids experiment with candy and decorations to design their own Halloween donut ideas.
