Higgidy Review – Perfectly Imperfect

Higgidy Review - Recipes From A Pantry

Perfectly Imperfect pies, quiches and more with Higgidy.

I love cooking from scratch – heck I have built up an entire food blog entirely as an outlet for me to dream up recipes, cook and talk about it to you lovely folk. Thank you for coming back week after week after week to indulge me.

But let’s face it, cooking from scratch is not always possible, not always necessary and in some cases, should be positively avoided (days you loose both the car keys and your bank card and don’t get home till well past your rather tired and grumpy children’s bed time, I am looking at you).

It is days like this that I know all I want to do is reach into a fridge and pull out some rather good quality, reliable tasty food made by someone else. Like the lovely people from Higgidy.

Higgidy Pies Review - Recipes From A Pantry

Now if you have not heard of Higgidy then these guys bring you absolutely delicious pies, quiches and sausage/ veggie rolls. They are just as good as I could make, if not better. And they do the job. They give us delicious, wholesome food, just when we want it.

One of the things I like about them is that they concentrate on the food. They know that a good pie is about the eating, not just about how it looks. They put the effort into the flavor. Quite right too, I say. Some delicious food, that smells, tastes and is wonderful, is the most important. If you are out and about, or in a hurry, you aren’t thinking about looks, you are thinking about filling that hole in your belly with the best possible grub

What I really like about Higgidy is that they have a decent range. Their products come in different sizes – there is the individual “I am hungry and am going to wolf down a pie” to the larger “here is something for us all to sit down to” larger sizes.

Higgidy Quiche Review - Recipes From A Pantry

Some of our favorites where the balsamic onion and cheddar pie, the spinach and red pepper quiche, the sweet potato and feta pie with pumpkin seeds, chicken pot pie with ham and leek and feta and red pepper rolls and pork and bramley apple sausage rolls. And that is just the start. They have something for everyone.

I do keep one or two Higgidy pies and other product on hand in my fridge and their pies and quiches have saved plenty a too tired to cook moment, picnics, impromptu drop-ins and oops I forgot to buy anything fir supper tonight. Do head over to your local supermarket, grab a few Higgidy treats, try them yourself and see what you think. Oh and have you guys seen their new packaging? It is lovely. These gorgeous packs feature hand-drawn illustrations that are inspired by an eclectic collection of ceramic plates. Plus, I love that fact that when you lift the top flap you not only get to reveal your rather lush eat but you get to reveal things like facts about your eats as well as serving suggestions etc. I might have opened all the higgidy products you see in these images just so I can ready those little facts 🙂

  1. I love Higgidy pies! what a great comp, when I tried to share the FB video it didnt work.

  2. I haven’t heard of Higgidy but love this idea and love the colorful boxes their products come in. I agree sometimes it’s nice to have your dinner ready to pull out of the fridge instead of starting from scratch.

  3. We don’t have Higgidy, but I want it. Those pies look delicious! I would keep a freezerful on hand for just such an occasion – like “not getting home until 8:00” or “I just don’t feel like cooking!”
