How To Make Homemade Spice Mixes
Making homemade spice mixes is usually really simple. Decide which seasonings you are going to make, gather all your ingredients and equipment and get started.
- Measure out all the ingredients into a mixing bowl.
- Next, mix them with a dry spatula, whisk or teaspoon.
- Then transfer the seasonings into an airtight spice jar or mason jar and label them.
- Or if needed, I add them into a spice grinder and grind to a powder before storing in the spice jars.
How Much Seasoning To Use?
Guys, go easy on seasoning, so start with less than you think you need and add more to taste.
Depending on the seasoning, I recommend you start with 1-2 tablespoons of seasoning for a recipe that serves 4 the first time and then adjust up or down to your taste.
How Long To Store Them?
You can store them for up to 6 months in an airtight spice jar or mason jar in a cool place out of direct sunlight.
They lose their freshness and vibrant flavor as time goes by so only make only enough to last for up to 6 months. After that simply make a new batch.
