Why Make This Recipe
- It’s easy to make – Toast the pecans, blend the other ingredients, freeze the mixture overnight, then pop it into the machine to process. Add the pecans at the end, and you are good to go.

- Customizable – Making butter pecan ice cream at home means you can experiment and swap out the ingredients to suit your dietary needs and taste preferences.
- Make ahead – Prep in advance and serve during the Christmas holidays, New Year’s celebrations, and of course all summer long for backyard barbecues, pool parties, 4th of July, and as an afternoon treat on those hot summer days.
- P.S. If you like this recipe, you will also love my Ninja Creami protein ice cream.

Ingredient Notes
- Milk – use whole milk for the best creamy results, but feel free to try 2% milk instead, although the results will be less creamy and more icy.
- Heavy cream – adds delicious silky smooth ice cream base.
- Cream cheese – use full fat cream cheese for the best results. It helps thicken and stabilize the ice cream.
- Brown sugar – use brown sugar for both color and flavor. So, so good.
- Pecans and butter – these add extra crunch. Start with raw pecans since you will be toasting them.
- Butter – I prefer salted butter, but you can use unsalted butter instead.

How To Make Ninja Creami Butter Pecan Ice Cream
Get the complete ingredients list and instructions from the recipe card below.

Step 1. Toast pecans in a small skillet over medium-high heat for about 4 minutes. Add the butter and keep tossing for another minute. Remove from the heat, let cool, and then roughly chop the pecans.

Step 2. Combine the ice cream base ingredients in the Ninja Creami pint container using a whisk until well blended. Make sure the cream cheese is well mixed in. Cover and freeze on a level surface in the freezer for 24 hours.

Step 3. Remove the container from the freezer, take the lid off, and place it in the Ninja Creami machine, as stated in the manufacturer’s instructions

Step 4. Select the ice cream setting and let it process.

Step 5. When done, remove the bowl, form a hole in the middle of the ice cream, and add most of the buttered pecans (leave a few for garnish), making sure to also add the butter.

Step 6. Place back in the Ninja Creami machine, select the mix-ins function, and process. When done, remove the ice cream, garnish with the remaining pecan pieces, and serve.
Recipe Tips
- Don’t skip forming the well in the processed ice cream base. This will ensure the ingredients mix evenly. Use a butter knife to make the well in the center.
- Make sure the ice cream is done perfectly before adding your mix-ins. After the mix-ins are in, you don’t want to process the Ninja Creami ice cream any further as they may get mashed up by the machine’s paddles.
- Please do let this freeze for a full 24 hours. The ice cream base must be fully frozen to process correctly.
- If you are impatient like me and don’t enjoy waiting, then it’s a good idea to prep and freeze more than one pint at a time.
- Is your ice cream not smooth enough? Then use the re-spin function before adding the mix-ins. And if it’s still not the right texture, simply add a splash of cream or milk and re-spin again.

Delicious Variations
- Add a little sea salt to the pecans when toasting for that little extra taste boost.
- Feel free to make candied pecans and add them to the ice cream.
- You can also add in a swirl of caramel for an extra flavor.
- Serve your ice cream with extra pecans scattered on top.
- This is such a great recipe to serve with these pool party food ideas.

FAQs
If after you finish processing, the mixture isn’t creamy, it could be the result of either not being frozen enough or being too frozen. Using the re-spin program and if needed, adding a bit of milk or water will usually fix the issue.
