If you are looking for a classic treat, look no further than the all-American milkshake. This ice cream and Oreo cookie concoction pairs expertly with a juicy burger, but it is also utterly enjoyable all on its own.

You can find milkshakes in coffee shops, diners, and ice cream shops, but even a small shake is going to carry a hefty price. Making a milkshake at home saves you money, and you can customize your shake with your favorite flavors. Plus, it only takes about 5 minutes to make this tasty Oreo Milkshake recipe just like my Peanut Butter Milkshake.

Oreo Cookies have been around since the early 1900s and are one of the most classic and beloved milkshake mix-ins. In my opinion, there isn’t anything tastier than creamy ice cream studded with little bits of crispy Oreo Cookies. This Oreo milkshake is a treat everyone will love.

Expert Tips

  • Allow the ice cream to come to room temperature for 10-15 minutes before scooping and blending.
  • Use extra Oreo Cookies as a garnish on your finished shake.
  • Add more milk for a thinner cookies and cream milkshake, or use less milk for a thicker shake.

Delicious Variations

  • Make It Lighter – Use skim milk instead of regular milk.
  • Make it Chocolaty – Blend in some chocolate syrup or hot fudge for an extra burst of chocolate goodness.
  • Add Bananas – Slice a banana and blend it along with the other ingredients.
  • Peanut Butter – Stir in some peanut butter for some nutty goodness.
  • Use Flavored Oreos – Oreos come in SO many flavors. Try a new flavor for a fun mix-up on an Oreo milkshake.
  • Swap Your Ice Cream – Vanilla and Oreos are great together but use a different flavor of ice cream for an extra tasty treat. Adding Oreo ice cream will add even more Oreo flavor.

Make Ahead And Storage

  • Prep Ahead – Set out the ice cream for 10-15 minutes so it will get soft enough to scoop and blend easily.
  • Store – Milkshakes don’t store well, so we recommend you don’t make more than you can consume in a single sitting.
  • Freeze – Oreo milkshakes will get very hard when refrozen. You can freeze them, but they will need to be eaten with a spoon.

FAQs

Do I Need A Special Blender?

Not all blenders are created equally, but you should be able to use whatever blender you have on hand. For a stick blender, you will want to use a tall metal cup to mix your milkshake and it may be helpful to crush the Oreo cookies before adding them to the ice cream. For a high-powered blender, you may not need as much milk as the recipe calls for. Begin with half the amount called for and add more as needed.

Can I Make a Vegan Oreo Milkshake?

Yes! Oreos do not contain dairy or animal products, so you can combine them with vegan ice cream and non-dairy milk for a delicious Vegan Oreo Milkshake.
