There aren’t many meals more satisfying than a big, expertly-seasoned, juicy steak. We looooove steak in my house, but good cuts can be a little on the spendy side. So when we cook steak, I want to use every last bit.

And on the rare (pun intended!) occasions we have extra cooked steak at the end of a meal, you can be sure I will be reheating that precious leftover steak the very next day.

Friends, I’ve reheated leftover steak in the microwave, on the stovetop, tossed it on the grill, and warmed it in the oven. But hands-down, the very best way to reheat steak in the air fryer, and it only takes a few minutes.

Yeap, the air fryer is so great for reheating all sorts of leftovers. You can Reheat Pizza In Air Fryer, or reheat your leftover juicy Air Fryer Steak with a delicious herb lemon Butter. And for a complete meal, serve your steak with Reheat Fries In The Air Fryer or the much lighter Zucchini Fries, coleslaw, and more.

Expert Tips

  • Allow the cold steak to come to room temperature for about 20 minutes before reheating.
  • Thinner steaks will reheat faster, so cook similar-sized pieces of meat together.
  • Watch closely, as cooking times will vary based on thickness.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature so you don’t overcook the meat.
  • To keep leftover steak juicy, you can marinate in a bit of beef broth to keep the meat moist during the reheating process.

How To Reheat Steak on the Grill

  • Preheat the grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
  • Sear the steak for 1 minute on each side, then move the steak to indirect heat and warm it for about 3 minutes before checking the temperature with a thermometer.
  • Check every 2 minutes, until the steak reaches an internal temperature of 110 degrees F – 130 degrees F / 43 degrees C – 55 degrees C.

How To Reheat Steak in the Oven Method

Yes, but since sliced steak has a lot of surface area, it can be easier to overheat the steak. This is one time where crowding the air fryer isn’t a bad thing, but you will still want to watch the meat closely.

My favorite method for reheating sliced steak is to use a hot skillet and let the steak barely hit the pan before you flip it and remove it.

Reheating steak is essentially cooking it further, so in order to keep your steak medium rare when reheating, make sure the internal temperature stays below 130 degrees F / 55 degrees C.
