  • Olive Oil – You can substitute your favorite oil and even use extra virgin olive oil when making roasted frozen broccoli.
  • Italian seasoning – Or substitute your favorite dried seasoning blend.
  • Salt – Kosher salt will bring out the natural flavors of frozen broccoli. Do not add salt if your seasoning blend already contains salt.

Expert Tips

  • Preheat both the oven and the sheet pan and place the broccoli on a hot baking sheet.
  • Line your baking sheet with parchment. This will prevent the broccoli from sticking, making it easier to turn during cooking. It also makes cleanup easy.
  • Add a squeeze of lemon juice for a bright flavor.
  • Add a pinch of sugar to help with the caramelization process.
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan. Broccoli needs space so the water from the freezing process has a chance to cook off. Spread out the frozen florets to ensure the broccoli is in a single layer.
  • Broccoli not caramelizing? Set the sheet pan under the broiler for a minute or two before serving to crisp up the edged.

  • Add Crushed Red Pepper Flakes  – Give the frozen broccoli a bit of heat by adding some crushed red pepper.
  • Try Roasting Other Frozen Vegetables – This same method will work for frozen vegetables like carrots, cauliflower, and more.
