One of my smoky chilli-marinated grilled pork tacos recipes
The thing about going on a good holiday is that when I get back, all I want to do is go on another holiday. Seriously, I can never go on enough holidays and I get into a mini funk for the first few days back home. So over the years, I have developed a few ways of dealing with my mini holidays blues.
1) Do a lot of nice things when I get back home.
2) Listen to some happy music. Then repeat.
3) Pretend I am still on holiday by cooking and eating holiday food.
By holiday food I mean things like these “to die for,” healthier, smoky chilli-marinated grilled pork tacos. Which are loaded to the brim with guacamole, spring onions and crunchy shredded cabbage. How can I be sad when I sit down to these tacos three nights in a row? Just so you know, this is one of my many pork tacos recipes in my repertoire – more to come on the blog soonish.
And they are pretty easy to make too. I simply marinated the pork in a smoky chilli sauce for about 30 mins before grilling it. So go hunt round in your pantry for that long forgotten chilli sauce and make these. And if you don’t have the soft tacos then just use pita or any other flat bread instead.
So here is my healthier smoky chilli-marinated grilled pork tacos recipe. I hope you enjoy every mouthful.

- 3 tbsp smoky chilli sauce
- Salt
- Soft tacos
- Shredded cabbage
- Sliced spring onions (scallions)
- Sliced chillies
- Guacamole
Instructions
- Mix together the pork, chilli sauce and salt in a bowl and let marinate for 30 mins.
- Heat your Tefal OptiGrill (red meat setting) or your griddle pan.
- If using the Tefal OptiGrill, add the whole pork steak to the grill plate, cover it and cook to your desired doneness.
- If using a griddle pan then add the pork steak, cook on one side, turn and cook on the other side to your desired doneness.
- When cooked, cut the meat unto slices and then create your tacos by starting with the soft tortillas and pilling them with the meat, vegetables, chilli and guacamole.
I love my Optigrill and I would love to make your recipe on it. Holiday food is great especially in these cold winter months
Yeap, the vibrant colours just cheer me up and then some.
Great recipe Bintu… so bright and vibrant to cheer up these cold grey days. I’m absolutely loving my Optigrill… use it pretty much every day. Cooks things beautifully and I adore how easy it is to pop out the grilling plates and stick them in the dishwasher – the perfect gadget really…
Seems I am late to the Tefal OptiGrill party. Wish I had got it a while back as my summer would have been completely different.
Such beautiful vibrant photos. The Optigrill is a super handy gadget in the kitchen!
Sounds like you have one too Michelle.
Yes please Bintu! Love the colours, and I just know these would taste amazing 🙂
Janie x
😀
Oh boy I do love tacos! I don’t often have pork tacos though (partly due to them being fattier than beef and chicken but also because I’m the only one who seems to love pork!)
Easy to make chicken tacos instead Emma.
These look gorgeous Bintu and I bet they taste just as good as they look!
Thanks you Jemma.
I love my Optigrill and these look fab. I bet they’d be great if you rolled them up and then popped them back in the Optigill to toast them.
Now that is an idea Claire.
Wow those aubergines look perfectly grilled and your taco recipe sounds delicious!
Yeap the grill throws out all sort of delicious goodies.
The Optigrill is probably the best thing that ever happened in our kitchen, we literally use it everyday! The tacos sound really tasty!
😀
The tefal optigrill is a really handy machine, isn’t it. I love pork grills cooked in it, and my mouth is watering looking at your photos! Yum!
Yeay, I can’t stop using my machine. Sooooo handy.
Oh I now want and need one of these optigrills, it looks so much better than my George Forman x
Maybe Santa might be persuaded to bring you one.
Gorgeous photos and such an easy yet delicious taco recipe!
Thank you Kristina.
