I love nothing more than curling up in a little corner, grabbing a book and tucking right in as I lose myself in the magical world of fiction… with a strawberry blueberry smoothie by my side, of course.

  • Lots and lot and lots of berries. Feel free to use either fresh or frozen berries. Both work really well. And if you use fresh berries then save a few to top the smoothie with. They make is sooooo much prettier.
  • Banana’s to sweeten the smoothie, make it thicker and to add in lots of fibre. Yaye for fibre. Yeap, this is a great high fibre smoothie.
  • Almond butter – for extra protein, fibre and vitamin E. Plus adding in a little bit of that nutty flavour that I love so much
  • And milk. Yes rich and creamy milk.
  • A lot of little extras like maple syrup and peach juice, plus rose petals and nuts because, well they all make the smoothie bowl taste sooooooooo much better.

As you can see super easy to make.

As I write this post, I sit back and reflect on my day, which was pretty darn awesome. I woke up and had a plan. I was going to bribe the children with some sweet (don’t judge me), some new colouring pens and books and a trip to the playground later.

So that I would have a couple of hours to spend doing blog related stuff (I know, I know).

But as I sat down to work, I decided to google things to do with kids in our area and up came this brand-new children’s park. It was crazy golf, but in a lost world themed park, complete with self-propelled rafts, volcanos, dinosaurs, crocodiles, giraffes, lagoons and more.

And that was that for work. I bundled the kids into the car and we went off to the lost world to have fun. We had brilliant fun spending a few hours in the sun, giggling our way round the course, hitting (or trying to hit) balls, negotiating lagoons, collecting stamps, making friends and just enjoying ourselves.

Then we spent another few hours stuffing ourselves, running around in the sun and reading, colouring etc.

Best day ever.

Why on earth don’t I do impromptu days like this a little bit more.

We came back home, happy and tired and supper was just this strawberry blueberry smoothie bowl, topped with a few fruits, a small hand handful of granola and some rose petals.
