Recipe Variations and FAQs

Watermelon Smoothie with Berries

You can customise this recipe and make it suit your specific taste. Feel free to swap the strawberries for blueberries or raspberries. Or, why not use aaallllll of your favourite berries and make this smoothie super mixed berry delicious?

Mint Watermelon Smoothie

I personally loooooove to add mint leaves to my smoothie mix. They provide a wonderful freshness and bright flavour.  You can try fresh thyme or lavender instead or you can also skip the herbs.

Watermelon and Yogurt Smoothie

Make your strawberry watermelon smoothie rich and creamy by adding ½ cup of plain unsweetened yogurt. You can also use Greek yogurt if you prefer. This will give you a thick and luxurious watermelon shake. Yum!

Prep Ahead Breakfast

Ice cold, refreshing, and thoroughly delicious, this Smoothie is an excellent breakfast option. It’s especially handy for those days when you need to eat on the go. Just blend, pour into your favourite portable drink cup, and you’re out the door!

Can you Freeze Watermelon?

Yes, it is entirely possible to freeze watermelon! I am all about keeping a steady supply of frozen watermelon stocked in my freezer. Especially during those sweltering summer months.

Frozen watermelon is not only perfect for making smoothies, but it is an amaaaaaazing treat all on its own! I store individual servings of cubed watermelon inside ziplock bags ready for the kiddoes to grab when they want a snack. Tasty and healthy, which is a total win-win in the snacking department.

Plus did you know that it only takes 2 hrs to freeze watermelon? Yeap. Which makes it totally possible for you to prepare, freeze, and then use it to whip up a batch of delicious strawberry watermelon smoothies all in the same afternoon.

One important note: when making smoothies with frozen watermelon, a sturdy high-powered blender is what you need to get the job done.
