  4. After you have added the toppings, place your chocolate covered pretzels on a parchment-lined baking tray, with space between them so they don’t touch.

White Chocolate Covered Pretzels Dipping Tips

  • Make sure to shake off the excess white chocolate really well before coating. Otherwise, the chocolate will drip after you coat then and you will end up with messy pretzels.
  • For best results, drip and shake off chocolate for about 20 seconds before adding the toppings. However, you don’t leave it too long, or the chocolate will start to harden and the sprinkles won’t stick.
  • I tend to dip two pretzels at a time to make the process go faster.

And even more tips….

  • Hold the pretzels over a plate or tray and to catch your chocolate drips and make cleaning up easier.
  • You can choose to either cover the whole pretzel or leave them half-dipped (which how my kids like them).
  • I actually prefer to sprinkle the chocolate onto my pretzels, turning the pretzels as I add chocolate on. This is because dipping the pretzel into the chocolate can result in a flat side

How to Melt Chocolate

There are many methods for melting chocolate, but when melting chocolate for this Chocolate Covered Pretzels recipe, I tend to prefer doing it in the microwave. Just follow these easy steps:

  • First, break your chocolate bar into small squares (so it melts quicker) and place in a microwave-safe bowl.
  • Then place in microwave for 30 seconds. Remove the bowl and stir the chocolate.
  • Pop the bowl back in the microwave for another 30 seconds, take out and stir again.
  • Repeat this process as necessary until you have smooth, silky melted chocolate.

As melted chocolate tends to thicken up quickly, you’ll want to get everything ready beforehand so you can start dipping immediately. And to keep the chocolate at just the right consistency, every 5 minutes or so place the bowl back in the microwave for 30 seconds to re-melt.

If you see your melted chocolate becoming thick and gloppy, mix in a little bit of coconut oil to return it to a thinner and smoother state. Make sure to add a small amount at a time, though. I recommend starting with no more than a tablespoon, and add more if needed to reach the desired consistency.

What Kind of Pretzel Should I Use to Make Chocolate Covered Pretzels?

You can use either pretzel rods or knotted pretzel twists and pretzel rods to make this easy treat.

If using pretzel rods, I recommend melting the chocolate in a tall glass (such as a pint glass or even a mason jar) rather than a bowl. This will allow you to easily coat the pretzel rod in a single dip.

How Long Does It Take For Chocolate Covered Pretzels to Harden?

Whilst the melted chocolate tends to harden up fairly quickly, I like to stick my tray in the fridge to speed the process up even more. I have found that keeping them in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes will do the trick.

Toppings for Making Chocolate Covered Pretzels

To make chocolate dipped pretzels for almost any occasion, simply use a variety of different colour sprinkles and candy toppings. Here are some suggestions to get you started:

  • Make easy Halloween-themed pretzels using orange and black
  • Use red, pink and white for Valentine’s Day.
  • Red, white and blue to make patriotic pretzels.
  • Pastel pink, blue, yellow, and green are lovely for Easter.
  • For St. Patrick’s Day, use different shades of green.
  • Red, white and blue to make patriotic pretzels.

Chef’s Tip: use a cupcake tray to keeps all your toppings separate and easily accessible.

How Do You Store White Chocolate Dipped Pretzels?

Keep your white chocolate dipped pretzels in an airtight container inside the fridge.

Chef’s Tip: to prevent the pretzels from scraping each other and causing the sprinkles to fall off, stack them in single layers on top of parchment paper.

When kept in the fridge, your  White Chocolate Dipped Pretzels will stay fresh up to 2 weeks. Good luck trying to keep them that long though (we never can!).

Can You Freeze White Chocolate Dipped Pretzels?

No, I do not recommend freezing your pretzels covered in white chocolate. The freezer can alter the texture and taste, and no one wants stale or soggy pretzels!
