Parma Ham and Caprese Pasta Salad Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) pasta shell pasta or other preferred shape
- 1 lb (450) cherry (grape) tomatoes halved
- 1 lb (450g) mozzarella pearls
- 3 tablespoon pesto optional
- 4 tbsp fresh basil leaves shredded
- 10 slices Parma ham roughly torn
- Balsamic vinegar to drizzle
Parma Ham and Caprese Pasta Salad Instructions
Mix the mozzarella pearls with pesto (if using) and set aside to marinate.
Cook pasta until it is al dente following the package instructions, then drain and allow it to cool.
Next, combine the pasta, basil and Parma ham with the mozzarella pesto mixture. Stir to combine.
Drizzle the salad with balsamic vinegar, to taste.
Serve immediately, or cover and refrigerate until needed.
Parma Ham and Caprese Salad Pasta Tips
- To prevent the cooked pasta from sticking, drizzle with a little bit of olive oil after draining.
- You can also use whole mozzarella cut into pieces instead of the mozzarella pearls.
- To make this salad gluten free, make sure to use gluten-free pasta.
- if making this salad in advance, do not add the basil until just before serving. You’ll want the basil to be as fresh as possible for maximum flavour.
