How To Make Banana Chips on Stovetop
Transfer the chips into a mixing bowl and season with salt and any desired seasonings.
Heat oil in a skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking.
Fry the bananas in batches till they are golden on one side then turn them over and fry the other side (about 5 minutes in total). Avoid overcrowding the pan. Note that the second side cooks much quicker than the first side.
Remove from the oil with a slotted spoon, transfer the chips to a plate lined with kitchen paper towels to drain excess oil.
Continue till all are done, and then let cool completely before serving.
Notes
Use a mandoline or sharp knife to slice the banana chips.
Cut the chips to the same width so that they cook at the same rate.
Feel free to slice chips lengthwise if you prefer.
Let them cool before serving as they crisp up more when as they cool.
Use the oils you have. If not following the Whole30 plan, you can fry the banana using rapeseed oil, peanut oil, or sunflower seed oil.
It is easy for these to go from cooked to burnt, so watch them very carefully towards the end of their cooking time.
You might need to reduce the heat on the oil after turning the chips, as the second side cooks much quicker than the first.
If you use a no-calorie cooking spray, there are 0 Blue Plan SmartPoints in a serving.
