Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl.
Beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy in a stand mixer, at medium speed.
Beat in eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla and almond extract until just combined.
Add in some food coloring (amount to your preference) until fully combined. (Tip: you want to add a little more than you think as thy color will be lighter after baking).
You can refrigerate the dough at this stage for about 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 375F / 190C/ Gas 5 and line some cookie sheets.
Roll cookie dough into balls and transfer to the lines sheets making sure to press the top down lightly.
Bake in a preheated oven for 8-9 minutes and remove them from the oven. The cookies will be soft when warm but harden and crinkle more as they cool down.
Press a sprinkle heart into each still-warm cookie.
Allow to cool on the cookie sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a rack to cool completely.
You can roll the cookies in some powdered sugar before serving.
