- ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
Air Fryer version:
Preheat the air fryer to 350 degres F / 180 degrees C.
Thinly slice the apple using either a mandolin or a sharp knife.
Add apple slices to a bowl and combine with cinnamon.
Transfer half of the spiced apple slices to the air fryer basket, arranging in a single layer.
Cook for 8-10 minutes, turning and flattening them at least 2 times during the cooking process.
Remove the cooked apple chips, and then repeat the process with the rest of the apple slices.
Oven version:
Preheat oven to 225 degrees F / 110 degrees C.
Thinly slice the apple using either a mandolin or a sharp knife.
Add apple slices to a bowl and combine with cinnamon.
Arrange slices in a single layer on a metal baking sheet.
Bake for 45-60 minutes, until the apple chips are dried and edges curl up.
Using a spatula, transfer onto a wire rack until fully cooled and crispy.
- Using a mandolin to slice the apples works best. Alternatively, use a sharp knife.
- Don't cut them too thin, as they can burn without actually crisping up.
- Try to make sure the apple slices are all the same thickness so they will cook at the same rate.
- If thickness varies, divide into batches according to thickness and cook similar size apple slices together.
- If some slices are cooking quicker than others, simply remove the quicker cooking ones earlier.
- Note that your apple chips may not be fully crispy when done, but don’t fret. They will crisp upon cooling.
- Cook time will also depend on the thickness of your apple slices. If they are very thin, they may cook a bit faster.
- Air fryer temperatures can vary depending on the make and model, so this recipe includes a range of suggested cook times.
