Mix together the ground beef, salt and black pepper in a bowl.
Form the beef mixture in to 2 burger patties that are the same size.
Wrap each burger patty in a foil packet, sealing completely.
Pour 1.5 cups of water into the Instant Pot insert and place the trivet inside.
Put burger packets on top of the trivet, then close the lid and turn the valve to the sealing (not ventinposition.
Set the Instant Pot to manual pressure / high pressure for 8 - 10 minutes.
Once cook time has finished, perform a quick pressure release. Open the lid and use tongs or oven mitts to remove the foil packets.
Then open foil packet and carefully remove the burger, draining any liquid that is inside the packet.
Your Instant Pot Hamburgers are ready to serve as is. But go ahead and grill if you want to brown the patties. Or add cheese and then grill if you want the cheese to melt.
