Instant Pot Hamburgers

Ingredients

  • 8 oz lean ground beef
  • salt
  • black pepper

Instructions

Instant Pot Instructions:

  • Mix together the ground beef, salt and black pepper in a bowl.
  • Form the beef mixture in to 2 burger patties that are the same size.
  • Wrap each burger patty in a foil packet, sealing completely.
  • Pour 1.5 cups of water into the Instant Pot insert and place the trivet inside.
  • Put burger packets on top of the trivet, then close the lid and turn the valve to the sealing (not ventinposition.
  • Set the Instant Pot to manual pressure / high pressure for 8 - 10 minutes.
  • Once cook time has finished, perform a quick pressure release. Open the lid and use tongs or oven mitts to remove the foil packets.
  • Then open foil packet and carefully remove the burger, draining any liquid that is inside the packet.
  • Your Instant Pot Hamburgers are ready to serve as is. But go ahead and grill if you want to brown the patties. Or add cheese and then grill if you want the cheese to melt.

Hamburgers On The Grill Instructions:

  • Mix together the ground beef, salt and black pepper in a bowl.
  • Form the beef mixture in to 2 burger patties that are the same size.
  • Fire up the the barbecue / grill and wait till it is medium hot.
  • Brush the grill with some olive oil.
  • Cooking time depends on how rare you like your burger. As a rough guide, cook your burger for 2-3 minutes, then flip and cook for another 2-3 mins and test. Then keep cooking and testing till the hamburgers are as well cooked as you like.
  • Serve burgers with gluten free buns (or lettuce wraps) and add your choice of toppings.
  • Don't forget to check the doneness of your meat using a Meat thermometer .

Recipe Tips

  • Suggested cook times do not include time for Instant Pot to come to pressure of for pressure to release.
  • When opening the burger foil packets do so carefully as liquid will gather in the foil packs.
  • If you want a grilled flavour or to brown your hamburgers, then cook them under the grill for a few minutes.
  • Shape the burgers into similarly sized patties so that they cook at the same rate.
  • Feel free to add spices to your taste into your burgers.
  • You can use regular burger buns if you are not following a gluten-free diet.
  • Add some cheese and cook the Instant Pot hamburgers under a hot grill for a minute to get a melty cheesier burger.
