Southern Coleslaw Recipe

This tangy Southern Coleslaw Recipe is a super easy and versatile side dish!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound (450g) shredded cabbage about half a small cabbage
  • 1 small carrot shredded
  • 3 green onions finely sliced

Dressing

  • 1/2 cup (115g) mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp white sugar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp buttermilk
  • 1 tsp dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp celery seed
  • 1-2 tsp dried dill
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  • Mix together the first 3 ingredients in a large bowl and set aside.
  • In another bowl, mix together all the dressing ingredients until combined.
  • Combine the 2 bowls and mix all together until combined.
  • Let sit for 60 minutes for the flavors to blend in refrigerator, stir again and then serve.

Notes

  • Always keep coleslaw in refrigerator until ready to serve. 
  • If short on time or prefer the convenience, feel free to use premade coleslaw mix.
  • If you like, you can chop the cabbage up even finer, a food processor may help. 
  • Celery seeds or celery salt can be a nice addition too.
