Ingredients

  • 5 tablespoons (70g) butter
  • 1/2 cup (118mL) milk
  • 1/4 cup (59mL) water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups (384g) flour
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream
  • 1 egg yolk

Instructions

  • Set your Instant Pot to sauté and add the milk, water, and butter heating until the butter has completely melted.
  • Turn off the Instant Pot and mix in the sugar and yeast. Allow the mixture to rest for a few minutes until the yeast starts to bubble.
  • Add the flour and salt. Use a wooden spoon to stir and combine. The dough should be somewhat elastic.
  • Place the lid on the pressure cooker and walk away to let the dough rise for about 1 hour.
  • Next, roll the dough into 10 balls, place them into a baking dish, cover, and let rise for about 30 minutes.
  • Brush the dough with the cream and egg mixture.
  • Preheat your oven to 350F / 190C and bake for 35-40 minutes, until golden brown.

Notes

  • Don’t overheat the milk, water, and butter. You want to melt the butter gently and heat the milk and water but do not allow it to simmer or boil.
  • Once you add the yeast, let the mixture sit for about 5 minutes until the yeast starts to bubble.
  • Don’t forget to preheat your oven!
