How to Boil Water in Instant Pot

Boil water with or without the lid.

Ingredients

  • Water

Instructions

High Pressure Method

  • Pour at least 1 cup of water into the Instant Pot inner pot.
  • Place the lid on, turn the valve to the sealing position, and set to manual pressure / high pressure for 5 minutes.
  • When done, perform a quick release of the pressure and then use the boiled water as needed.

Sauté Function Method

  • Pour 1 to 2 cups of water into the Instant Pot inner pot (Note: you do not need the Instant Pot lid for this).
  • Set the Instant Pot to sauté mode.
  • The cooking time for the water to boil in the Instant pot without a lid is about 3 minutes.

Notes

  • Use the Instant Pot sauté function for small amounts of water, such as 1-2 cups.
  • The Instant Pot sauté setting will run for 30 minutes before automatically switching to the keep warm mode. Watch closely, as small amounts of water can ultimately boil out.
  • Add a steamer basket when using the Instant Pot sauté function, and you can use it for steaming vegetables while boiling water at the same time.
  • For larger amounts of boiling water, use Instant Pot Pressure Mode.
  • Don’t overfill the Instant Pot. Never fill the pot above the max fill line marked on the insert.
  • Use a ladle to scoop out the boiling water.
  • You can carefully remove the insert from the Instant Pot to pour the boiling water.
  • The cooking time does not include the time it takes for the Instant Pot to reach the pressure cooking function.
  • You can let the pressure naturally release, but the water will cool down significantly during that time.
  • There are 0 WW Blue Plan SmartPoints in one serving of this.
