Ingredients

  • 3-5 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 large garlic bulbs or 1.5 - 2 cups of garlic cloves

Instructions

How to Roast Whole Garlic in the Air Fryer

  • Preheat your air fryer to 350 degrees F / 180 degrees C.
  • Use a sharp knife to cut enough off the top of the garlic to expose most of the cloves.
  • Place the garlic bulb into a small piece of foil and gently wrap around the sides of the bulb, leaving the top uncovered.
  • Drizzle olive oil over the garlic and into the foil cups, then seal.
  • Place the foil-wrapped bulbs into the air fryer and air fry at 350 degrees F / 180 degrees C for 20 minutes. The garlic will be soft and golden brown.
  • Gently peel back the foil and allow the garlic to cool for about 10 minutes. Once the bulbs are comfortable to touch, you can gently squeeze them, starting at the bottom and moving upwards to remove the roasted garlic.

How to Roast Garlic Cloves in the Air Fryer

  • Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees F / 180 degrees C.
  • Remove the cloves from the garlic bulb and peel. Alternatively, you can purchase already peeled garlic.
  • Form a cup shape with the foil and add the garlic cloves.
  • Drizzle with olive oil and fold the foil to seal so the cloves are still loose.
  • Place in the air fryer basket and cook at 350 degrees F / 180 degrees C for 20 minutes.
  • You can turn the garlic packet halfway through cooking for more even cooking. You may also wish to separate the garlic into several foil packets.

Notes

  • Choose fresh, plump garlic bulbs. Look for ones with firm cloves and avoid bulbs that feel soft or have green sprouts.
  • Trim about ¼ inch off the top of each garlic bulb to expose the cloves. This allows the heat to penetrate and evenly roast the garlic.
  • Lightly drizzle olive oil over the exposed cloves. Use your fingers or a pastry brush to ensure each clove is coated, but be mindful not to overdo it – a little goes a long way.
  • Individually wrap each prepared bulb in aluminum foil. This helps create a steamy environment that aids in softening and roasting the garlic.
  • You can turn the garlic packet halfway through cooking for more even cooking.
  • For individual cloves, buying peeled garlic is a time saver.
  • When wrapping the cloves in foil, seal the packet but leave it loose so the cloves cook evenly.
  • You may also wish to separate the garlic into several foil packets.
  • Roast the garlic bulbs at a moderate temperature for around 25-35 minutes. The time may vary depending on the size of the garlic and your air fryer model.
  • Keep an eye on them to prevent burning. The garlic should become soft and golden.
  • To check if the garlic is done, carefully open the foil and gently press a clove. It should easily mash under light pressure.
  • Once roasted, let the garlic bulbs cool slightly before handling. They'll be hot!
  • Save the garlic oil. It will be a flavor enhancer for any recipe.
  • Storage - keep in an airtight container inside the fridge for a week.
  • There is 1 WW Blue Plan SmartPoint in one serving of this.
