Ingredient notes

  • Vodka – just use your favorite unflavored vodka that you already have on hand.
  • Orange liqueur – this recipe calls for Triple Sec, but you can also use Grand Marnier or Cointreau.
  • Lime juice – for the best results, use freshly squeezed lime juice. You can also sweeten the citrus juice with some sugar syrup.

Recipe Tips

  • For the best results, please make sure to use good quality vodka to make this kamikaze shots recipe. Use your favorite brand that you already have on hand.
  • Add more or less lime juice according to your preference. Fresh lime juice is the best, but in a pinch, use bottled lime juice.
  • Also, add more or less of all the ingredients depending on how weak or strong you prefer your drinks.
  • If you tend to prefer a slightly sweeter shot, can add in a little sugar syrup. I recommend to try it both ways and see what you think.
  • It is entirely up to you if you prefer a sugar rim, but that can add some extra flavor and cut through the citrus flavor.
  • If you shake this with ice in the cocktail shaker, you will end up with bubbles, which changes the appearance of the shot. I like to keep all the ingredients chilled and skip the ice.
  • These are best served chilled.
  • Since these delicious shots go down quite easily, please drink responsibly and be mindful of your consumption.

Delicious Variations

  • You can scale this up to a cocktail instead. Just double up the lime juice and serve it in a cocktail glass instead.
  • Blue kamikaze shots – easily swap out the orange liqueur for some Blue Curacao liqueur instead.
  • Raspberry kamikaze shots – simple, friends. Use Blue Curacao liqueur and a raspberry-flavored vodka instead.
  • Cranberry kamikaze shots – add in a small amount of cranberry to the regular version of this shot. Makes a perfect Christmas drink or New Year’s Eve drink.
  • Other fruit juice – try using various fruit variations, like pineapple juice, pear juice, orange juice, as well as fruit vodka flavors. Soooo much choice.
  • Swap out the lime for some lemon…lemon drop shot, anyone?
  • Change the alcohol – feel free to use something like tequila or gin instead, but do bear in mind that this will change the flavor of your drink.

Storage

  • Make ahead for a party – Scale up the amounts, then simply mix the ingredients, cover, and refrigerate for a couple of hours before needed. Pour into prepared shot glasses when your guests arrive.
  • Freeze – I do not recommend trying to freeze this.
