Friends, Christmas week is here. So in my house, that means preparations for the biggest meal of the year is are in full swing.
And while I do enjoy laboring over the main event, when it comes to the starters I am all about dishes that are light and easy yet full of great flavour.
Which is exactly why these Salmon Blinis are what I’ll be serving up for our Christmas appetiser. Easy to make, colourful and tasty but not too filling.

How To Make Salmon Blinis
- Open packet, remove salmon and place on baking tray. Set the dressing aside.
- Preheat oven to fan-assist 170 C /190 C / gas 5 / 375 F.
- Bake the salmon for 20 mins, then remove and let cool.
- Transfer the cooled salmon to a bowl and lightly mash (don’t mash all the way, as it’s nice to have some big chunks).
- Add in the low fat mayo and chilli lime and ginger dressing from the fish and mix to combine.
- Just before serving, assemble blinis by adding the salmon mix and assorted toppings. Enjoy!
Salmon Blinis Tips
- Use a selection of super easy toppings like cucumber slices, beetroot pureé, spring onions slices, sesame seeds, watercress to top your salmon blinis.
- To keep this starter truly fuss-free, I use store-bought blinis. But if you prefer, you can certainly make your blinis from scratch.
- For those who prefer a little heat, you can add more chilli or a couple of dashes of hot sauce to the salmon mix.

- 1 pack (260g) of The Saucy Fish Co. Salmon with Chilli Lime and Ginger dressing fresh or defrosted
- 1-2 tbsp low fat mayo
- 16 blinis
- assorted toppings: cucumber slices, beetroot pureé, sliced spring onions, sesame seeds, watercress, etc.
