A few weeks ago I posted here about a2 Milk. Basically my sister’s digestion goes awol if she drinks normal cow’s milk. In preparation for her coming to visit, I have been testing a2milk which she might find easier to digest. The kiddoes and I have been guzzling down a2 milk and have found no difference in taste from regular cow’s milk.
A little reminder about a2 Milk – There are a few different kinds of proteins in regular cow’s milk including the A2 protein and A1protien. These proteins are digested differently with A1 protein being known to cause bloating, indigestion, cramps and more in some people. a2 Milk is produced from specially selected cows that naturally produce only the A2 protein, so it is just easier to digest cows’ milk.
Well now we get to find out even more about a2 Milk. They have been doing some research which shows that lactose intolerance could actually be a myth for many. They conducted a trial where they gave a whole bunch of people, half of which were diagnosed as lactose intolerant, and the other half self-reported as sensitive to dairy, some a2 Milk to drink.
Every single one of them could tolerate a2 Milk with no digestive problems, even those who had been medically diagnosed as lactose intolerant! So basically it seems that a lot of the uncomfortable symptoms associated with lactose intolerance could be caused by the A1 protein.
The animation below, which does a much better job of explaining it that I do.
This research could really transform the lives of many who think they are lactose intolerant as they could now drinking wholesome, nutritious natural cows’ milk, instead of lactose-free alternatives they currently have to use. If you have been diagnosed with lactose intolerance, it is worth speaking to a professional, to see if a2 Milk might suitable for you. Do also pop over to the a2 Milk website to find out more.
*a2 Milk is not suitable for anyone medically diagnosed with galactosaemia or a cows’ milk allergy. If you require any specific advice, then please do check with a nutritionist.
