Why do we not use the crockpot more in the summer? How perfect is it to be able to throw everything into the slow cooker, go off and have some summer fun and a few hours later sit down to a great meal. Yeap, it really does not get easier or more delicious than this Allspice, Orange and Lemon Crockpot Chicken Thighs.

Just look at that crispy golden brown skin, made tastier with warming allspice (pimento) and a zesty orange and lemon sauce, lifted with fragrant thyme and citrus slices. Not much effort needed apart from a few minutes of crisping up the chicken thighs.

Yeap the most beautiful spiced, tasty easy lunch or weeknight dinner that is also perfect for entertaining. I have got your back.

Guys this recipe is highly versatile. You can change up the seasonings as you’d like, remove the skin from the chicken for a leaner meal, skip the browning step if you’re tight on time, etc.

Plus frugal, easy one-pot cooking and minimal washing up is a good thing, right?

  1. This sounds amazing. I don’t use my slow cooker anywhere as much as I should – it’s so easy to put it on and leave, but a lot of my finished dishes taste a bit samey. I’ve got some leftover oranges which need using up, so good inspiration to kill two birds with one stone.

  2. OOh what a lovely idea, whilst I do use my slow cooker, I haven’t used it this way, so it has given me a great idea x

  3. Bintu, I love the spices in this dish. I can’t believe this recipe was made in a slow cooker. Looks great!

  4. This looks amazing! Beautiful photography too. I still use my slow cooker in the summer. Its so handy when you want to go out for the day but still have a proper cooked dinner ready when you get home.

    1. Thanks Ciara – do check out the Multicooker as it does so many things apart from slow cooking.

  5. Another great slow cook recipe. Funny I always think of slow cookers being about winter comfort food. You’re right, they’re perfect for doing all the hard work whilst you enjoy the sun. GG

  6. I’m planning to get myself a multicooker sometime soon, it think it would be very convenient to just throw everything in it and then get a tasty meal when I get home after work haha I love the idea of how simple that sounds! And I absolutely love the combination of adding orange, honey, and thyme to chicken! yum!

      1. I was looking at the multicookers and slow cookers yesterday and I think that I’m gonna go for a multicooker as it can do much more so there’s no point in getting a slow cooker! Thank you and I will be trying your recipe soon!!

    1. Definitely check out the Multicooker Redmond. It has a lot of advantages over the slowcooker.

  7. Im a vegetarian and not very good at cooking meat because I don’t appreciate it and can’t taste it but I’m always looking for tasty recipes I can cook for my family. This looks like a great one and perfect for me because you can just throw everything together and let the slow cooker do the work! Thanks for sharing K x

    1. You definitely need to check out the multicooker K as you can make lots of slow cooked vegetarian meals for your family too.
