How To Make Strawberry Margarita

Get the complete ingredients list and instructions from the recipe card below.

strawberries in a blender to make a margarita

Step 1.Add the tequila, orange liqueur, fresh strawberries, lime juice and simple sugar syrup into a blender. Blend on medium until the mixture is smooth.

the margarita mixture blended up smooth inside the blender

Step 2. Set out two glasses, and use the lime to wet the rim of the glasses and dip into some Sea Salt Flakes to coat the rim. Add ice and top with the Jalapeño strawberry margarita mixture. Garnish with jalapeño slices, strawberries, and lime slices.

Strawberry Margarita On The Rocks

Alternatively, you can make your margarita on the rocks by using a regular cocktail shaker.

  1. Add the strawberries, jalapeños, and sugar syrup into the cocktail shaker.
  2. Then add a tiny amount of tequila and muddle away. Make sure to macerate the fruit as much as possible to get maximum flavor and color for your cocktail.
  3. Next, add the alcohol, lime juice, and ice. Cover and shake, shake, shake away. Pour out as is, or strain if you prefer.

Recipe Tips

  • Use the best ever Sea Salt Flakes for the perfect rim.
  • You can use a sugar rim instead of a salt rim if you prefer.
  • Remove the seeds from the jalapeño before adding to the cocktail.
  • For a smoother Strawberry Margarita, strain the mixture before serving.  You will end up with some foam from blending the strawberries. You can skim the foam off, or you can leave it in, depending on your preference.
  • The Jalapeño Margarita recipe is best served cold. If you don’t have enough time to chill it properly, then try freezing it for 5-10 minutes before serving.
  • Chill your garnishes so that the drink stays cold when you add them in.
  • For the orange liqueur, you can use Cointreau or Triple Sec.
  • Feel free to use honey instead of sugar syrup.
  • Add in a pinch of black pepper or chili flakes.
  • Grab hold of a handy citrus juicer, which will help you whip up your cocktail easily.

Spicy Margarita Recipe

Do you prefer a more spicy margarita recipe? Then you have 2 super easy options to spice things up. One way to bring the heat is to let the jalapeños steep in the tequila for at least 30 minutes before using.

And, if you want to kick up the heat even further, then you can blend one of the jalapeño slices along with the rest of the ingredients. Just remember to remove the jalapeño seeds first.

Frozen Strawberry Margarita

Prefer a frozen strawberry margarita? Easy peasy. Simply add in frozen strawberries instead of fresh berries. I would add in a few extra frozen berries so that you end up with a thick, slushy-style frozen margarita. Also, add some ice cubes when blending.

Starting with frozen berries means that you can make this awesome margarita at any time of the year. #itisalwayscocktailoclocksomewhere.
