- Brush both sides with olive oil and sprinkle on some seasoning.
- Air fry cabbage for 8-12 minutes till tender cabbage steaks are to your likening.
- Repeat till all the steaks are done.
Expert Tips
- Air fryer cooking time depends on how large the cabbage slices are and how wilted you prefer it. If you want it with some bite, cook for less time. But if you like it to be more wilted with crispy edges, then you may need to air fryer it for longer.
- For best results, make sure to preheat the air fryer for 2-3 minutes.
- Don’t crowd the air fryer basket; keep the cabbage in a single layer.
- This recipe work in both basket style and air fryer ovens.
- Steam it as well – If you want, feel free to add a little bit of water (about 1/3 cup) into the air fryer basket before pre heating, this will help steam the cabbage instead.
- Air Fryers temperatures can vary depending on the make and model. Use the cooking times listed as a guide, check food for doneness, and adjust as needed.
Delicious Variations
- Swap the Seasoning mixture – You can change up the flavors to suit your dinner menu; swap the ginger for some Italian herbs, use taco seasoning blend for Mexican flare, or sprinkle with Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder etc.
- Use a Different Cabbage – The are 4 main cabbages we use. While I prefer green cabbage, you can also use purple cabbage (aka red cabbage), savoy, or Napa cabbage. And if you like mini cabbages then try making roasted brussels sprouts instead.
- Make Air Fryer Cabbage Steaks – cut into cabbage wedges that are about an inch thick and air fry in batches if needed. Try for about 9-10 minutes and go from there.
- All the toppings – feel free to top with crispy bacon, Parmesan Cheese,
Prep and Storage
- Prep Ahead – Wash, core and slice the cabbage a day in advance and keep in the fridge.
- Store – Leftovers can be stored in an air tight container inside the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Freeze – Uncooked cabbage can be frozen for up to 1-2 months. I do not recommend freezing cooked cabbage.

Come to think of it, what a disappointment it was when I bought my dishwasher and after 2 months it broke. At this point I didn’t even understand why I paid such a lot of money if it didn’t even last more than 3 months. It was just awful. But I am very glad that I met these guys who work for this company https://www.yourprimeservice.com/ , because they fixed my dishwasher and now my dishwasher works even better than it used to, and it has been running for 5 months after the repair.
