How To Cook Frozen Hash Browns In Oven

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F / 200 degrees C. 
  2. Lightly grease a large baking sheet with olive oil or line a sheet pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  3. Place the hash browns in a single layer on a sheet pan in a preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes. Turn halfway through and cook until crispy and golden brown.

  • Grease the baking sheet or line it with parchment paper. 
  • For extra crispy frozen hash browns, place them on an oven proof baking rack on top of the prepared baking sheet. 
  • Spray frozen hash browns with olive oil or nonstick cooking spray to help with browning and make the potatoes crispy and crunchy. 
  • Place the potato patties in a single even layer on the baking tray. 
  • Turn the hash brown patties over halfway through the cooking time. 
  • Season with salt or your favorite seasoning blend before serving.

Prep And Storage

  • Prep Ahead – No advanced prep is needed. Place frozen hash browns in oven and cook until hot and crispy. 
  • Store – Leftover hash browns can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days and then reheated in a 350 degrees F / 180 degrees C oven. 
  • Freeze – Refreezing cooked hash browns is not recommended.

Do I Need To Thaw Frozen Hash Browns?

Frozen potato patties do not need to be thawed out before cooking in the oven.

How Do I Cook Frozen Diced Hash Browns In The Oven?

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F / 220 degrees C. Lay the diced frozen potatoes in a single layer on a baking sheet.

Bake for 10 minutes, then flip the potatoes and cook 10 more minutes until golden and crispy. Cook a little longer for brown potatoes.

What Are Frozen Hash Brown Patties?

Shredded hash browns are seasoned and formed into a patty, and frozen. These are similar to the breakfast hash brown patties you get at fast food restaurants. 

Can I Make Hash Brown Potatoes In A Skillet?

Yes. Heat olive oil in a skillet and add the patties to the pan. Cook until they begin to crisp. The crispy edges add so much flavor.
