Hey folks, I think I might have the perfect OH. For real. An example of his awesomeness is a few days back I call him up and whine about, wanting a stew for supper, wanting a stew for the blog and well generally whine about feeling cold.
He sweetly listened before sending me off for a pedi mani session and a brunch treat.
A few hours later, I come home to a gorgeous smelling pot full of beef stew simmering away. ‘Tada’, he announces – ‘slow cooked Guinness anchovy beef and bean stew for your blog and for supper’. Perfect right?
Beef and Guinness Stew is a traditional Irish dish that is warm, comforting and oh-so-satisfying. This recipe is a bit of a departure from the classic recipe, and I just loooooove the complex depth of flavour from the addition of the anchovy.
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by serving up this Slow Cooked Guinness Anchovy Beef and Bean Stew. You will thoroughly enjoy paring it with some crusty country bread or Irish soda bread. And a pint of Guinness of course. Just the thing for a proper Irish celebration!

Loved the way this turned out! So delicious.
Freddy Is so awesome for making such an amazing Stew !!
I think my husband would love this! A slow cooker beef stew is so comforting.
Love the sound of this stew and your hubby! Although I can’t complain because mine loves to cook and is really good at it! He’s Sicilian and makes lots of fab seafood dishes! Anchovies is the secret ingredient to many Italian recipes, not just seafood ones. It adds a wonderful umami flavour without actually making the dish taste fishy!
A big bowl of this and the potato mash you have suggested is comfort food at its finest! Your hubby sounds like a keeper!! Cheers
This is just beautiful.
Thank you.
What a yummy dish to come home to!
Exactly
Yum! Perfect for this time of year. We are always looking for new soup and stew recipes to test out!
I hope you like this.
This is a very different stew with the anchovies in it. I have never been a fan of anchovies, but maybe I can get hubby to make it. He does a lot of the cooking in our home.
You could maybe swap the anchovies with balsamic vinegar.
I really love a good stew in the cooler weather and what a great thing to come home and smell 🙂
🙂
ooo.. I’ve been thinking about cooking with anchovies and this seems like a great way to do it! So far I’ve only used them on pizza
Try this and let me know what you think.
I love a good hearty stew this time of year! Hubby just looked over my shoulder and took a look and asked what day this week we are having this stew! I need to make this one ASAP!
Hahaha, that is the kinda reaction I am looking for.
We make beef stews all the time, I never thought to ad anchovies I bet it adds such a great depth of flavor
Such a very, very good looking stew. I use anchovies as a “secret ingredient” sometimes, too.
Thank you
Peerfect. And it looks amazing too. I want to go for a mani and pedi and come home to a stew done too lol
I know right?
I love to use pressure cooker to make beans, stews… This stew looks amazing!!
That’s one seriously awesome husband you’ve got there! What a gorgeous sounding stew!
Such a beautiful stew! Perfect for coming home to. I love the addition of anchovies.
Wow he does sound pretty awesome! A* due to him for this one! A hearty stew in winter is always such a winner in our house too (I just need to convince my own OH to make one now I guess!)
