How To Cook Sweet Potatoes in the Crockpot

Step 1. Clean and scrub the sweet potatoes but don’t dry them. The moisture will help cook them.
Step 2. Add sweet potatoes in a single layer in the crockpot. If needed, stack one more layer on top.


Step 3. Cover and cook on the high setting for 3 1/2-4 hours, or low heat for 6-7 hours until they are fork tender.
Step 4. Remove the lid, season to taste, then serve and enjoy!
Recipe Tips
- Cook the slow cooker sweet potatoes potatoes in a single layer. If you need to stack another layer on top. But don’t do more than two layers.
- You don’t need to poke holes in the veggies. They will cook as they are without the need for steam release.
- If possible try and cook similar sized potatoes together so they cook evenly and at the same rate.
- Avoid opening the slow cooker too much during cooking, as this will bring down the temperature and result in a longer cook time.

You can serve the cooked sweet potato simply with butter, but feel free to vary the toppings to your taste. Try some of these delicious options;
- Sweet – maple syrup, brown sugar, or mini marshmallows.
- Spice – cinnamon and nutmeg work well, pure vanilla extract.
- Nuts – chopped pecans, walnuts, almonds etc.
