What is Dalgona Coffee?

Dalgona coffee is a popular beverage that blew up when a Macau cafe shared it on Korean TV. Dalgona coffee is made by whipping equal proportions of instant coffee powder, sugar, and hot water until it becomes creamy.

Then you serve it on top of milk. My mocha whipped version has a more chocolate-y taste thanks to the cocoa powder. I’ll bet you’ll like my version more.

Recipe Tips

  • Make sure to measure all ingredients using the same measuring spoon and using level measurements.
  • It is super important that you use equal portions of coffee, sugar, and water.
  • Make sure to use a large enough bowl because as you whip this mixture it will get much larger, it also splatters a lot at the beginning.
  • Different mixers will take different amounts of time, and if you don’t have a mixer you can use a whisk and whip the coffee by hand.
  • If the flavor is too strong or too bitter you can use half milk and half flavored coffee creamer.
