Recipe Tips

  • Make sure to remove the “silver skin” from the tenderloin before prepping it with spray and seasonings. To do this, just use a sharp knife to peel it away from the meat.
  • Allow the pork tenderloin to rest before cutting it so it retains the juices, and becomes even more flavorful.
  • Short on time or spices? Use a mix of paprika and cumin instead of the fajita seasoning.
  • Feel free to double or triple the recipe to serve a crowd.

Air fryer temperatures can vary depending on the make and model. I recommend starting with less cook time, checking for doneness, then adding more time as needed.

Variations

This air fryer pork fajitas recipe is amazing as is, but if you want to change it up a bit, try the following flavor variations;

  • Add lime: toss the veggie with some fresh lime juice or a pinch of lime zest.
  • Swap the spice: use chipotle pepper instead of cayenne pepper.
  • Use different veggies: try shallots instead of onions, or zucchini and carrot strips instead of bell peppers.

FAQs

What is Fajita Seasoning?

Fajita seasoning mix is a combination of cumin, oregano, paprika, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. While there are many pre-made versions to choose from, it’s super easy to make your own. Check out this easy homemade Fajita seasoning mix recipe and give it a try!

What Meat to Use? Pork Loin vs. Pork Tenderloin

It is very easy to grab the wrong cut of pork for this Pork Tenderloin Air Fryer recipe if you’re in a hurry or not paying attention.

Pork loin and pork tenderloin, while sounding similar, are very different. They’re cut from different parts of the animal and are different in size.

Pork loin is usually a thicker and shorter cut of pork, while pork tenderloin is a thinner and longer slice of pork. They don’t interchange well in recipes, so make sure you are getting the correct cut for this recipe.

How Long to Cook Pork Tenderloin in Air Fryer?

It’s extremely important to cook the pork tenderloin to the right temperature for health and safety reasons and not to overcook it and lose all that amazing juiciness.

  • Internal Temperature. To make sure you’re cooking the pork tenderloin enough, always use an internal meat thermometer. The internal temperature of the pork tenderloin should be measured in the center of the loin, at the thickest section, and should be at least 165F / 63C before serving.
  • Bring to Room Temperature. Make sure you take your tenderloin out of your refrigerator about 20 minutes before ready to season so it can come up to room temperature. If you take meat directly from the fridge and place it in the air fryer, it can take longer to cook and dry out faster.
  • Less Time at First. Start by cooking the pork tenderloin for 8 minutes on each side and checking the internal temperature. Adjust accordingly, I recommend up to 10 mins each side, but you may need more depending on your Air Fryer cook time.

Do You Cover Pork Tenderloin with Foil While Cooking?

While it is technically safe to put aluminum foil in the air fryer, covering the pork is not recommended for this recipe. Covering with foil may prevent it from cook properly.

An air fryer works by circulating the same temperature air constantly around the compartment. If the heat is stopped or blocked by foil, it cannot evenly and safely cook the pork tenderloin all the way through.
