When I need a quick fuss free and family friendly recipe, I always turn to these air fried hamburgers or my trusty air fryer frozen burgers because I know the whole family will happily clean their plates. Especially when they are served up with some classic crispy air fryer frozen french fries. #somuchyum
And for those times when we’re craving something beyond the classic beef patty, we loooove these air fryer turkey burgers paired with healthy but totally tasty air fryer zucchini fries and these really delicious air fryer green beans.

Ingredient Notes
Now let’s talk about what goes into these awesome air fryer hamburgers;
- Ground Beef – Use lean ground beef if you can, as it contains less fat which means less drippings. You can also make these with ground chicken or ground turkey instead.
- Seasoning – I am keeping this simple by using salt and black pepper.
- Cheese – I like using sliced American cheese for topping the burgers. Feel free to use 2 or 3 slices per burger, depending on thickness (and your love of cheese!).
- Burger Buns – My preference is brioche buns as they offer a hint of sweetness, but use the style of buns that best suits your taste.

Step 1. Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees F / 180 degrees C. Mix together the ground beef, salt, and black pepper in a bowl, then use your hands to form into four burger patties. Place in the air fryer basket.
Step 2. Air fry for 8-12 minutes, depending on your desired doneness. Flip burgers over halfway through cooking. When done, switch off the air fryer, top each patty with cheese, close the air fryer, and let the cheese melt for 1-2 minutes.
How To Cook Hamburgers On The Grill
No air fryer? No problem! You can cook your burgers on the grill by following these steps;
- Fire up the barbeque / grill and wait till the coals are medium hot.
- Brush the grill with some olive oil.
- Burger cooking time depends on how rare you like your burger. As a rough guide cook your burger for 2-3 minutes and then flip and cook for another 2-3 mins and test it. Then keep cooking and testing till the hamburgers are as well-cooked as you like.
- Assemble the burgers by putting them in the buns and adding toppings of choice.

- Do not overcrowd the air fryer. Make sure there is space between each burger so they cook evenly.
- To avoid the cheese flying off the burger, switch off the air fryer before topping the patties with the cheese.
- Shape the ground beef into similarly sized burger patties so that they cook at the same rate.
- You can shape these into 2 patties instead of 4, but you would need to cook them for a bit more time.
- Air fryer temperatures will vary depending on the make and model, so use the cooking time listed as a guide only and adjust as needed.

- Freeze – Can you make a big batch of hamburgers for freezing? Yes, you certainly can. Double or triple the recipe, shape the burgers into patties and freeze individual burgers between baking parchment in a freezer bag. You can either air fry them from frozen or defrost and cook. Freeze for up to 3 months.

Degrees of doneness for hamburgers in the air fryer is a gauge of how thoroughly cooked the meat is based on the color and internal temperature.
It’s important to use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For burgers, common gradations include: rare, medium rare, medium, medium well, and well done.
- Rare: is a cool red center with an internal temperature of 125 degrees F / 52 degrees C.
- Medium Rare: a warm red center with an internal temperature of 135 degrees F / 57 degrees C.
- Medium: is a warm pink center with an internal temperature of 145 degrees F / 63 degrees C.
- Medium Well: will have a slightly pink center with an internal temperature of 150 degrees F / 66 degrees C.
- Well Done: a burger that is well done will have very little to no pink with an internal temperature of 160 degrees F / 71 degrees C.

- 4 slices cheese
- 4 burger buns
Instructions

- Spray the air fryer basket, then add in the burgers.
