Ingredient Notes
- Water – Water serves as the base for the peach syrup and the lemonade and will be used at different stages of the recipe. We prefer to use filtered water.
- Granulated Sugar – Sugar is a key sweetening agent in the lemonade. You could experiment with different sweeteners but may need to adjust amounts accordingly.
- Peaches – Use fresh whole peaches that have been cut into wedges. The peaches will be removed before serving but can be used as a garnish or in other recipes.
- Lemon Juice – Using freshly squeezed juice ensures a vibrant and natural taste. You can substitute bottled lemon juice if needed.

Make Peach Simple Syrup
- Mix together the sugar and 3 cups of water in a saucepan and add in the whole peaches.
- Place the saucepan over a medium flame and stir occasionally until the sugar has dissolved.
- Bring to a boil and boil for 2 minutes.
- Switch off the heat and allow the syrup cool with the peaches in it.
- Strain and decant into a container and keep the peach simple syrup in the fridge until required.
Make The Lemonade
- In a large pitcher, combine 1 1/4 cups peach simple syrup, 1 cup fresh lemon juice and 4-5 cups of water.
- Chill in a refrigerator till needed.
- Add ice to some glasses or mason jars and top with the lemonade and any garnishes like fresh peach slices and fresh lemons.
Pro Tips
- For the best color use the reddest skin peaches.
- Feel free to use a mixture of orange flesh peaches and white peaches.
- Don’t discard the peaches – save them and eat them for breakfast (great with yogurt or pancakes) or dessert.
- Use fresh lemon juice – the best results come from freshly-squeezed lemon juice. Juice that has been pre squeezed is not as good.
- Roll the lemons on the counter before cutting and squeezing to help release the juices.
- Ensure that your water, peach puree, and lemon juice are all adequately chilled before mixing. This helps create a refreshing beverage right from the start.
- Pulp or no pulp. Up to you, strain the lemon pulp out or leave it in if you like your lemonade with bits.
- Add water as needed – if serving with lots and lots of ice then make the lemonade a little sweeter. If serving with no ice then make the lemonade less sweet.
- Garnish your peach lemonade with lemon slices, fresh peaches or mint leaves for a visually appealing presentation. This can also add a hint of extra aroma to the drink.
Delicious Variations
- Add berries – add berries like strawberries, raspberries or blueberries along with the peaches when making the syrup.
- Make a sparkling peach lemonade – add soda water instead of plain water to make a sparkling lemonade.
- Add herbs – cook up the peach syrup with some mint or basil for a herb lemonade.
- Add spices – add in vanilla, cloves, allspice, and ginger into the syrup as you are cooking it.
- Sugar-free lemonade – use sugar substitutes like stevia or monk fruit sweetener for a sugar-free version. Adjust the quantity based on your preferred level of sweetness.
Prep Ahead And Storage
- Prep – Prep and chill the syrup, lemon juice and water before combining.
- Store – Store the peach syrup in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. After removing fruit and garnishes, store the lemonade in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days.
FAQs
You can use frozen peaches if fresh ones are not available. Ensure they are thawed before blending or pureeing to extract their flavor effectively.
Simply multiply the quantities of all the ingredients to make a larger batch. Keep the ratio of sugar to water and adjust the peach and lemon quantities accordingly.
To make a Southern peach lemonade cocktail, add in your favorite alcohol. Aim to add about 1 cup of bourbon (my fave), vodka, gin, or tequila to about 5-6 cups of lemonade depending on your taste.
Lemonade ice cubes will keep your drink cool without getting diluted. Simply freeze the lemonade in ice cube trays and add to you cup before serving the lemonade.
